I'm a qualified Industrial Designer (B. Tech. degree, WITS Tech. / University of Johannesburg), and since I graduated in 2001, I've also been exploring and working in Graphic Design, Web Design and Typography, as well as Motion Graphics on the video side.

I particularly enjoy the use of CAD and digital media in the industrial design process, as well as the processes of conceptualisation, invention and innovation. I'm specificaly interested in alternative energy and "green" design.

I've done a range of graphic design work from logo and brand development to print and design for screen, including full corporate ID implementation, as well as specialised services such as photo-retouching and optimisation. Please note that some of the work here has been done in partnership with James Macdonald (eg CD covers).

Web design

I focus on the front-end of the web design process, including layout, visual design and interactivity, with emphasis on HTML and CSS. My philosophy of web design is one of clean, simple design that is visually striking, and made with efficient and lean code. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is an integral part of the way that I design. I've also done visual design for Flash-based sites.

I also implement corporate ID rules in the web / multimedia context, and I create customised HTML email newsletters and email signatures for clients that are looking a highly professional branding in their electronic corporate communication.

My typefaces are in various stages of completion. "Computer Caz" was a present for my wife, and "Yurtsid" was a present for my brother Richard.
